Nasik is a city in the state of Maharashtra in Western India popular for being a religious destination for many Hindus. It is believed the name "Nashik" was derived after the incident in Ramayan when Lakshman (Sri Ram's brother) chopped off the nose of Surpanakha (Ravan's sister).
Nasik has a very pleasant climate with three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon and winter. Nasik is approximately 180 km from Mumbai (Bombay).
